Marciel Road Closed Through May 12

Marciel Road in Anthony Chabot Regional Park will be closed to vehicles past the Marciel Staging Area through May 12. The closure is necessary to ensure safe egress for large log-hauling vehicles as part of a fuels management project. The Marciel Staging Area will remain open.

Seasonal flooding along the Wildcat Creek Trail in Richmond

Approximately 120 feet of the Wildcat Creek Trail, along the Richmond Parkway undercrossing, is currently experiencing seasonal flooding. Flooding in this area is expected to remain during the wet winter months through into late spring/early summer 2024.

Bathroom Construction Delay

Construction of replacement bathroom facilities at Crown Beach along Shoreline Drive at Grand Street has been delayed. The Park District is working with the City of Alameda to restart construction as soon as possible.

Trail Detour between Dougherty Rd and Dublin-Pleasanton BART Station

Until further notice, a temporary detour of the Iron Horse Regional Trail between Dougherty Road and the Dublin-Pleasanton BART Station will be in place. View Map.

The Scarlett Drive roadway project will widen and extend existing Scarlett Drive from Dougherty Road to Dublin Boulevard and provide a new segment to the Iron Horse Regional Trail. The project will require the temporary detour of the trail while roadway and utility improvements are made to Scarlett Drive. The City of Dublin will also be constructing a pedestrian and bicycle bridge connecting the Iron Horse Regional Trail on the north and south sides of Dublin Boulevard at the intersection of Scarlett Drive. The bridge will provide access to Don Biddle Community Park, which is located on the north side of Dublin Boulevard adjacent to the Iron Horse Regional Trail.  

The pedestrian bridge project will provide a safer and easier crossing for trail users and facilitate improved traffic flow along Dublin Boulevard by providing a grade-separated bridge crossing over Dublin Boulevard for pedestrians, bicyclists and BART commuters. The terminus of the southeasterly side of the bridge crossing will lead directly to the Dublin-Pleasanton BART Station. Seasonal Campground Closure – Extended due to Fuels Reduction Project

Anthony Chabot Family Campground and Group Camp sites are closed seasonally from November 1 – March 31. This year the closure is extended through May 12 to allow for the completion of a large-scale fuels reduction project which will help remove accumulated flammable plant materials, including dead/dying trees, and improve visitor safety.

Lafayette Ridge Staging Area Closure

The Lafayette Ridge Staging Area will be closed beginning December 20, 2023, through April 2024 for accessibility improvements, including restroom upgrades, a new drinking fountain and water bottle filling station, and improved disabled access parking. Access to trails will be impacted.

Greathouse Visitor Center and Mine Tours Temporarily Closed
The Greathouse Visitor Center and mine tours are temporarily closed through April due to unforeseen needed maintenance. Please check back for updates on reopening dates.
Weather permitting, staff is available by the upper parking lot with park information, educational activities, and Trails Challenge shirts and books on Fridays 10am-2pm, and Saturday/Sundays 10am-4pm. Updated April 16, 2024.

The San Francisco Bay Trail between Pinole Shores Staging Area and Bay Front Park will be closed at the end of May 2024 to repair 100-foot section of trail that was damaged by a landslide during the 2022-2023 winter storms. Construction is scheduled to take approximately two months.

Iron Horse Trail Overcrossing Construction - San Ramon

The north side of the Iron Horse trail adjacent to Bollinger Canyon Road is closed during the construction of an overcrossing, a pedestrian/bike detour is in place. View Map. (At a later date, closure of the south side of the Iron Horse trail adjacent to Bollinger Canyon Road will also be implemented; a pedestrian/bike detour will be in place.)

Del Valle Regional Park is open with limited amenities

  • The Marina Store is open daily with modified hours for boat rentals on a first come first served basis. Rentals for motorboats, patio boats and canoes can be completed between 7am and 1.45pm; boats must be returned by 4pm. The store is open between 7am - 5pm to purchase bait, tackle, license sales, and snacks and drinks.
  • The Camp Store is now closed until spring.
  • Use caution on storm-damaged trails. Signs are posted.
  • Construction equipment/noise may be present during normal working hours.
The following amenities remain closed:
  • The Visitor Center is currently closed.
  • The Swim Beach Food Concession remains closed until further notice.
  • Only a small, upper portion of the campground, convenience cabins, equestrian campsites and some group campsites have reopened. The majority of Del Valle Campground remains closed until further notice due to severe storm damage. Extensive repairs are needed. Campsites are being assessed and will be reopened based on safety conditions. Please contact Reservations if you have questions about cancellations.

Coyote Hills Parking Lot Project

The gravel parking lot located at Paseo Padre Parkway and Patterson Ranch Road is closed. View Map.
The existing lot will be replaced by a paved 100-car lot with shade, flush toilets, landscaping, EV charging, bus parking, picnic tables, and wildlife overlooks. The new parking lot is due to open in Spring 2024 and will be located further up Patterson Ranch Road and will have better pedestrian and vehicle circulation. 
To accommodate early park users, Coyote Hills staff will open the gates to the park at 7am.

Ferry Point Pier Removal Project

The Ferry Point Pier Removal Project is expected to begin in the summer of 2024 and last approximately 1-2 months. The pier is over 100 years old and has deteriorated beyond repair. Removal is necessary for public and maritime safety. The iconic metal Gantry structure and the concrete fishing pier will not be removed. The public fishing pier at Ferry Point will be closed during construction for public safety.

Recent soil testing of the entire landfill detected lead in specific, localized areas around the perimeter of the north side of the park (the portion of the park located across the Hoffman Channel bridge).
