The existing pool facility at Roberts Regional Recreation Area was built in the 1950s and the infrastructure is beginning to fail. In addition, the Park District would like to expand the capacity of the pool to allow for increased use of the facility by the public.
Site Description
The Park District will be renovating and expanding the pool from four swim lanes (approximately 2,700 sq. ft.) to six competition swim lanes and two cool down lanes (approximately 5,600 sq. ft.) which will approximately double the capacity of the pool. Construction of the new pool and pool deck will also include new retaining walls, planting, irrigation, a new entry kiosk, fences/gates, and ADA parking.
The project will also include construction of a new public changing room building with restrooms and space for lifeguard and park operations. The existing mechanical building will be replaced with a new building that will house all of the pool’s mechanical equipment and chemical treatments, it will also include storage space for lifeguard training equipment.
Roberts Pool will reopen for the swim season in 2024.
