Five Canyons Open Space in Castro Valley has more than 300 acres of open space and five miles of trails, including a vital segment of the Bay Area Ridge Trail, a nine-county ridgeline trail circling the San Francisco Bay Region. This multi-use trail segment makes connections to the north through Cull Canyon Regional Recreation Area and beyond, and to the west to Don Castro Regional Recreation Area, providing connections to two local schools. In the future, this trail will link adjacent parklands and trails to the south, including Garin and Dry Creek Regional Parks and Mission Peak Regional Preserve.
To Reach The Park
The park has no wheelchair accessible facilities at this time.
Several miles of internal "loop trails" offer opportunities to appreciate natural open space complete with shady canyons, scenic ridgelines, and wildlife, while providing a connection to Hayward Area Recreation District parks and Don Castro Regional Park.
Hiking and biking are common activities in the park.
