31st Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Multicultural Rally
The 31st Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Multicultural Rally was held virtually on January 16, 2023, to commemorate the memory of Dr. King’s legacy - his advocacy, sacrifices, and messages to bring about social. economic, and environmental justice for all and to continue the dream to inspire today’s youth in our East Bay communities. Guest speakers include Congresswoman Barbara Lee and CA State Attorney General Rob Bonta, accompanied by performances and introductions from Rally Committee members, music choirs and students. Originating from the founding of the MLK Jr. Memorial Grove at the Regional Shoreline, the Rally program is sponsored in part by the East Bay Regional Park District.

The Park District celebrated the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in a livestream event honoring his life and dream through words, song, dance and spirit, emceed by Board Director Ellen Corbett. Presented by the Martin Luther King Jr Rally Committee, this special program was the 29th year as Oakland’s longest continuing celebration of Dr. King. Featured guests included former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, youth from MLK Freedom Center, and many others.
