Backpacking sites offer the opportunity for groups of 1-30 to hike and camp in various parks across the District. Site capacity and distances vary. Sites are primitive, but most offer water, a chemical toilet, and table. Campfires are not permitted at any of the backpacking sites. Dogs are allowed at select sites.
- Reservations are required and must be made at least 2 business days prior to your arrival date. (Example: The last day to reserve for a Friday arrival date is Wednesday.)
- Booking Window: Sites are released in 2 Six-month block release windows. Maximum 2 reservations per call.
- Backpack site reservations for 2025 are now open.
- For reservations with arrival dates from January through June 2026, sites will be released December 10, 2025.
