Wildfire Hazard Reduction Project in Redwood Park

November 1, 2012

The East Bay Regional Park District Fire Department will continue the East Ridge Trail Wildfire Hazard Reduction Project in Redwood Regional Park over the next several months, using prescribed burning. Work is scheduled for weekdays only. Phillips Loop and Eucalyptus Trail may be closed to the public on burn days during working hours.

The project goals and objectives of this vegetation management prescribed burn are to complete and maintain a key link in the inter-agency fuel break system designed to reduce the threat of property damage, personal injury, and other impacts to public health and safety caused by future fires in the East Bay Hills. The prescribed burn is required to reduce fire intensity along this strategic stretch of fuel break and provide safe firefighting access routes (East Ridge Trail) to better protect the urban-wildland interface.

The fire mitigation project is funded by Measure CC. The Fuels Management recorded information line is (510) 690-6612.
