Arrest in Oakland Shoreline Homicide

Police have arrested a 17-year-old male on suspicion of killing a Hayward man found shot to death Tuesday in Oakland. 

The juvenile, whose name is not being released, has been booked into Alameda County juvenile hall on charges of murder. 

The victim, Ismael Omar Gomez-Saldana, 38, was found by a park user Tuesday morning along the San Francisco Bay Trail at Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline in Oakland. He had been fatally shot. During the investigation, police discovered the victim’s car was missing and issued an alert to neighboring law enforcement agencies. California Highway Patrol officers spotted the victim’s car on Interstate 580 in Oakland Wednesday afternoon and detained the driver, who was later arrested.
