Passing of Retired Contra Costa County Supervisor Federal Glover
Contra Costa County Supervisor Federal Glover passed away on Sunday at age 69. Glover was a long-time public official in Contra Costa County, beginning his public service on the Pittsburg City Council, where he served as a councilmember from 1996 to 1998 and as mayor from 1998 to 1999. He then served on the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors from 2000 until his retirement in 2024. Supervisor Glover was a strong supporter of the East Bay Regional Park District.
East Bay Regional Park District General Manager Sabrina Landreth made the following statement regarding the passing of former Contra Costa County Supervisor Federal Glover:
“The Park District is saddened to hear of the passing of Supervisor Federal Glover. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and colleagues.”
“Supervisor Glover was a dedicated public servant who represented the communities he served admirably for 28 years—as a Pittsburg City Councilmember and Contra Costa County Supervisor. Glover was a passionate advocate for the exoneration of the Port Chicago 50, a group of sailors wrongfully convicted of mutiny in 1944, who were finally exonerated in July 2024 by the former Secretary of the Navy, the Honorable Carlos Del Toro.”
“Supervisor Glover was a great partner and supporter of parks and open space and a powerful voice for equity and equitable access to the outdoors. He was instrumental in establishing the Bay Point Regional Shoreline in Bay Point, which opened in 2008. Glover will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and expanding access to nature for all.”
