Lake Chabot Water Quality Conditions

  • A Caution Advisory for blue-green algae is posted. See Blue-Green Algae Information page for additional details.
  • Swimming is never permitted at Lake Chabot.

The Park District and project partners open an all-new outdoor Fitness Zone at Lake Chabot Regional Park with a ceremony set for Saturday, November 9, 10:30 a.m. to noon at Lake Chabot Regional Park, 17600 Lake Chabot Road in Castro Valley.

The six exercise stations accommodate up to 12 people at a time. The rain gardens surrounding the Fitness Zone absorb water runoff, keeping the lake clean and healthy. Native plants provide a valuable habitat for birds, butterflies, and beneficial insects.

The $20,000 project was funded by Kaiser Permanente with design and labor provided by East Bay Regional Park District staff.
