Recreation, Learning, and Volunteer Activities Abound in Regional Parks
Celebrate Earth Day with the East Bay Regional Park District by taking a hike, learning something new, or helping the environment at scheduled Earth Day events. Events are available throughout the Earth Day weekend, April 21 – 22.
“Earth Day is a celebration of the natural environment we can enjoy at the Regional Parks, but also a reminder of our responsibility to take care of it,” said Park District Board President Dennis Waespi. “We encourage the community to enjoy an outdoor activity for Earth Day - whether it’s hiking in nature, learning about nature or helping restore nature.”
While most events are drop-in, registration is required for some activities. For more information about events, call 1-888-EBPARKS.

Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline
8:30 am to 12:00 pm, Saturday, April 21
Earth Day is a special day for East Bay Regional Park District. We are committed to preserving our parklands for present and future generations to enjoy. We need your help in maintaining our commitment to restore, preserve and protect scenic, natural & cultural resources.
Join park staff to cleanup the shoreline and help restore native diversity to the area. An adult should accompany children under 16 years old. Bring gloves and a refillable water bottle. Snacks, water and tools provided.

Celebrate our home planet during this annual terrestrial celebration and day of service! Bring water, work gloves, hat, dress for the weather and prepare for general grubbiness.

EARTH DAY CITIZEN SCIENCE – BATWATCH!
Big Break Regional Shoreline
7:00 pm to 9:15 pm, Saturday, April 21
Bats at Big Break? Tonight, let's find out which bats call this place home as we monitor a foraging location. Bring a flashlight and chair. Dress in dark, quiet clothing.

Coyote Hills Regional Park
9:30 am to 4:00 pm, Saturday, April 21
Learn about the care of our precious earth. Enjoy family fun while creating your own litter bug craft, view an environmental puppet show (starts 11:40 am & 3:40 pm), and play recycling games. Learn how you can make a difference!

ALAMEDA EARTH DAY: COASTAL CLEAN-UP
Crown Memorial State Beach
8:30 am to 10:00 am, Saturday, Apr 21
The pond and beach need your help! Have fun with friends while picking up litter to help wildlife and make our environment more beautiful. Students earn community service hours. Stay and enjoy the Alameda Earth Day event afterward!

Celebrate the Earth and its amazing natural habitats, including our beautiful Bay. Learn how to live more sustainably with fun activities and free giveaways at the City of Alameda’s Washington Park (next to Crown Beach); food/beverages available for purchase. Come to Crab Cove before the main festival, from 8:30-10am to participate in a beach & pond cleanup (advance registration required: use Course #20091; students will earn community service hours.)
