East Bay Regional Parks District: Embrace Life!

NOTE: All lifeguard service operates depending on weather, water level, water quality, staffing availability and visitation. When lifeguards are not on duty, swimming is permitted only in a designated area, and at a swimmer's own risk. Organized groups planning to use the swim facilities should call 1-888-EBPARKS or 1-888-327-2757, option 2, then 1, to notify park staff and to receive necessary facility information. Children must be supervised by a responsible adult. No alchoholic beverages, dogs, glass containers, fishing, or barbecues in the swim facility. Incontinent individuals are prohibited from water contact activities in non-chlorinated swimming areas. (Ordinance 38). This applies to the swimming areas of Del Valle, Crown Beach, Miller/Knox, Temescal, Quarry Lakes, , Shadow Cliffs, and Tilden.

The pool complex features a 30 feet by 70 feet swimming pool and deck areas. In addition, the complex is fully accessible to individuals with disabilities, including the bathhouse and an accessible lift into the pool. Swimming is allowed only when lifeguards are on duty.

Cull Canyon Regional Recreation Area
The swim complex, including bathhouse, vending machines and lifeguard service, is open during the warm weather season. It is ideal for families with small children, who will enjoy splashing in the shallows and playing on the white, sandy beach. Swimming is allowed only when lifeguards are on duty.

Swimming in the lagoon is a main attraction from the end of May through September. Swim hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and only when lifeguards are on duty. There is a bathhouse with shower, vending machines, a sandy beach and large lawn areas. Swimming is allowed only when lifeguards are on duty. Little Hills Picnic Ranch
The Little Hills swimming pool is available by reservation only. This pool offers lounge chairs for sun bathing and picnic tables with umbrellas for lunch. Little Hills Ranch provides two lifeguards with each reservation as well as kayak races inside the swimming pool upon request. The pool measures 10 yards by 25 yards with a 3 ft shallow end and a 9 ft deep end. For reservations contact The Picnic People at (925) 462-1400.

Miller/Knox Regional Shoreline
Keller Beach is at the north end of Miller/Knox. There, visitors can wade and swim in San Francisco Bay. No lifeguards are on duty. Picnic tables and restrooms are nearby.

Just over the hill from Berkeley, Tilden Park's Lake Anza is a favorite getaway. Its sandy beach is open to the sun and sheltered from the wind, with lifeguards posted during the swim season. Swimming is allowed without lifeguards on duty. Swimming is generally prohibited November through March.
