Description

REINHARDT REDWOOD REGIONAL PARK (TRUDEAU SKYLINE STAGING): Now is the time to dive right in! Let’s spend the height of spring exploring parks in search of our fluttering friends. They come in all shapes and colors, from the tiny Pygmy Blue to the majestic Tiger Swallowtail, from the Mournful Duskywing the Great Purple Hairstreak, and everyone in between. We’ll learn about butterfly families, habitats, and food plants on each trip. As we peer around in patches of wildflowers, we will also keep an eye out for native bees and moths, and won’t neglect singing birds if they want to visit.

Includes serpentine prairie grasslands, redwood forest, and ridgetop. About 5 miles and 800 feet of elevation. Moderate, but steep and uneven in parts.

Bring binoculars and a hand lens if you have them available. We will have some to pass out as needed. Please also keep food, water and comfort in mind. Hats and/or sunscreen are recommended.
