Parks Police Arrest Man in Wildcat Canyon Incident


On January 31, 2014, East Bay Regional Park District Police were notified of an assault that had occurred in Wildcat Canyon Regional Park in Richmond.  A female victim reported that she had been assaulted by an unknown male suspect who attempted to pull her into a wooded area.  The victim was able to fight back and break away from the suspect.

On Monday February 3, 2014, Regional Parks Police officers and investigators were at Wildcat Canyon Park and contacted a male who matched the description of the suspect.  The victim was able to identify the male who was contacted as the suspect who had assaulted her on January 31st.  The suspect, identified as Julio Rodriguez, age 30, lives in Richmond and was arrested.  Rodriguez was later booked into the Contra Costa County Jail, Martinez for charges related to the incident, including false imprisonment, attempted kidnapping and assault.
