The popular Concerts at the Cove music series returns this summer to Alameda on three Friday evenings: June 13, July 11, and August 8, 2014 (5:30 - 7:30 pm). The free outdoor concerts will take place on the lawn adjacent to the Crab Cove Visitor Center, located at 1252 McKay Avenue in Alameda. Each evening features free family-friendly musical entertainment, in a festive outdoor setting with beautiful views of San Francisco Bay.

On Friday, June 13, groove to the sounds of Petty Theft, San Francisco’s tribute band dedicated to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The band delivers Tom Petty’s songs true to the originals and in the spirit of his legendary band’s live performances.

They’ll be followed on July 11 by Beaufunk with Michael Jeffries. Reminiscent of legendary bands Tower of Power and The Meters, Beaufunk will bring a combination of the infectious tribal vibe of New Orleans and the precise musical punctuation and syncopated rhythms of Oakland-style funk.

NEW! The Park District is pleased to announce the August 8 concert will feature two KFOG Local Scene artists: Robin Applewood, and The Orange Peels

Arrive early to the Crab Cove Visitor Center to explore local plants and animals, and enjoy other family-oriented nature activities. Face-painting for the kids! Bring your blanket or lawn chairs to relax on the grass. Local restaurants will offer soft tacos, hot dogs, kettle corn, and other tasty treats for sale. Purchase beverages from the Alameda Rotary Club or from Faction Brewing, R & B Cellars, Rosenblum Cellars, and Rock Wall Wine Company. Please no outside alcoholic beverages. The concert runs from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

The event is free to the public. Additional parking is available at the entrance to Crown Memorial State Beach, at the intersection of Eighth Street and Otis Drive.

Presenters and sponsors for the series: Rotary Club of Alameda, East Bay Regional Park District, and the Regional Parks Foundation. Additional support from the The Alameda Sun, Alameda County Industries, Alameda Landing, Broadway Management Co, Kane & Associates, Rockwall Wine Company, Rosenblum Cellars, and R & B Cellars.
