Board Elections

Notice is hereby given, pursuant to the provisions of California Public Resources Code section 5529 and California Elections Code section 12112, that a general district election to be consolidated with the Statewide General Election will be held in the East Bay Regional Park District (Park District) on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, to choose a successor for four (4) offices of the Board of Directors to be elected in Wards 3, 5, 6, and 7 of the Park District each for a full term of four (4) years.

Generally, the wards include the following areas:

  • Ward 3, which comprises the election precincts of Castro Valley, Fairview, a portion of Fremont, a portion of Hayward, a portion of San Lorenzo, and Union City. This ward is within Alameda County. View Ward Map 3
  • Ward 5, which comprises the election precincts of Dublin, a portion of Fremont, Livermore, Newark, Pleasanton, and Sunol. This ward is within Alameda County. View Ward Map 5
  • Ward 6, which comprises the election precincts of Alamo, a portion of Alhambra Valley, Blackhawk, Byron, Camino Tassajara, Castle Hill, Clayton, Concord, Contra Costa Centre, Danville, Discovery Bay, Norris Canyon, North Gate, Pleasant Hill, San Miguel, San Ramon, Shell Ridge, and a portion of Walnut Creek.   • Ward 7, which comprises the election precincts of a portion of Alhambra Valley, Antioch, Bay Point, Bethel Island, Brentwood, Clyde, Crockett, Hercules, Knightsen, Martinez, Mountain View, Oakley, Pacheco, Pittsburg, Port Costa, Rodeo, and Vine Hill. This ward is within Contra Costa County. View Ward Map 7

 

The qualifications required for each office for which the candidates are nominated are: Each director shall be a resident and a registered voter in the ward from which he or she is nominated. A nomination paper containing the name of the candidate to be nominated shall be signed by at least 50 voters residing within the ward. (PRC § 5531)

Official nominating petitions for eligible candidates desiring to file for any of the elective offices shall be obtained from the Alameda County Registrar of Voters (1225 Fallon Street, Room G-1, Oakland, California 94612), or the Elections Officer of Contra Costa County (555 Escobar Street, Martinez, California 94553), on or after Monday, July 18, 2022, and must be filed not later than 5:00 pm, Friday, August 12, 2022.

If nomination papers are not filed by the incumbent by the Friday, August 12, 2022 deadline, any qualified person, other than the incumbent, will have until 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2022, to file nomination papers.

If no one or only one person is nominated for an elective office, appointment to the elective office may be made as prescribed by law.

Polls will be open between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

The Board of Supervisors of Alameda and Contra Costa counties are hereby authorized and requested to canvass the returns of the District and certify the results to the District.
