Fun Events to Celebrate 85 Years
A Message from General Manager Robert E. Doyle
September - October 2019

For many, the East Bay Regional Parks have provided a lifetime of memories. Whether it’s taking a first hike, catching a first fish, or riding the steam train at Tilden for the first time, many of us have lasting memories and deep appreciation of the Park District’s beautiful parks, shorelines, and trails.

2019 is the Park District’s 85th anniversary – a remarkable milestone and a reason to celebrate. Founded in 1934 by citizens who, in the depths of the great depression, elected to tax  themselves to preserve and provide public access to nature, the Park District today has 73 parks on more than 122,000 acres in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

To celebrate this special anniversary, the Park District has been offering Free Park Fridays, with park fees waived on Fridays for the entire year.

The Park District is also holding several free, fun, celebratory events. We’d love to have you join us!

  • Friday, September 13, 5:30pm – CONCERT AT THE COVE, Crown Beach, Alameda (SambaDa: Traditional Afro-Brazilian heritage music blended with funk, rock, and reggae)
  • Saturday, September 28, 1pm – FAM FEST! FALL ARTS AND MUSIC FESTIVAL at the Bridge Yard Building, at Judge John Sutter Regional Shoreline, Oakland (In partnership with OAKHELLA, SaulPaul MC’s a mix of local artists, musicians, DJs, and performers)

Another great way to support and enjoy your parks is to become a member of the Regional Parks Foundation, which is celebrating their 50th anniversary this year!

See you in your Regional Parks!
