On Tuesday, July 10, the East Bay Park District Police arrested an Oakley resident on three counts of arson relating to vegetation fires in the area. A series of fires near Big Break Regional Shoreline Park occurred in the vicinity of Fetzer Lane and Jordan Lane between June 30 and July 5, 2007. A suspect was identified and later interviewed by the East Bay Regional Park District Police.
Mathew Pirnat, age 19, was arrested at the Contra Costa County Courthouse and booked at the Contra Costa County Jail after admitting to at least three of the fires.
