2007 Photo Contest: Complete Rules and Requirements

  1. Submitting Photographs:
    1. Entrants may submit their photographs on a CD or DVD (No Prints please). Please ensure that all images are labeled with the name of the park AND the last name of the photographer.
    2. Please return original signed copy of the application, along with your submission and necessary waivers (if applicable) to:

  2. All submissions must be digital files. Images must be a minimum of 300 dpi resolution at full size of 8-1/2 x 11.
  3. Photographs may be either in black & white or color.
  4. Photographs may be either in vertical or horizontal format.
  5. Entrants may submit up to 10 photographs per month.
  6. Photographs must be taken within the East Bay Regional Park District. The photos can capture any aspect of the parklands to include landscapes, activities, people, plants, animals or events. The photos should highlight the seasonal activities occurring in the Park District.
  7. Contest entries must be received by mail no later than January 1, 2008.
  8. There are no restrictions on who can enter the EBRPD Photo Contest. You need not live in the East Bay Regional Park District service area (Alameda and Contra Costa Counties), employees of EBRPD may enter. Amateur and professional photographers are welcome.
  9. Entrants, if under 18, must have a signed permission form from his/her parent or legal guardian.
  10. By submitting your photograph to the East Bay Regional Park District photo contest, you agree to the following:
    1. Release by the Photographer

      You certify that you are the person who took the photograph(s) submitted here, that you own the copyrights to the Photographs and that you have the authority to enter into this release:

      You release East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) from any liability whatsoever that arises from the use of the Photographs except for uses that violate the terms and conditions of this release. You agree to work in good faith with EBRPD to promptly resolve any problems or disputes that may arise due to your submission of the Photographs.

      By registering your Photographs with EBRPD, you grant EBRPD the royalty-free and non-exclusive right to use your Photographs as follows: (i) on the EBRPD website (ii) for EBRPD posters, brochures and activity guides (iii) in EBRPD electronic emails (iv) and in other internal or external marketing materials or media coordinated by the EBRPD. You further waive the right to inspect or approve the final use of your Photographs by East Bay Regional Park District.

      You understand that EBRPD will request additional permission from you before using your Photographs for purposes other than listed above.

      You will give EBRPD all copyright information for you photograph so that EBRPD can include the proper credit for published Photographs.

      You agree that if any portion of this Release is found to be void or unenforceable, the remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect. Void where prohibited by law.

  11. Minor digital enhancement for cropping, red-eye removal, filters, corrective functions and legitimate manipulations such as burning and dodging, brightness and contrast, color adjustments, saturation, stitching and cropping are permitted. In cases where a photograph is considered to be “digital art”, the image may not be considered. Entrants are not permitted to place borders or frames around their images, or place watermarks, signatures, dates or copyright notices on their images.
  12. Photographs registered by EBRPD employees, specifically photographs taken at the employees place of work, must be taken while off-duty and with their own personal equipment.
  13. EBRPD reserves the right to crop registered photographs for display purposes, if necessary, and for other needs as required.
  14. Parental Release: Photographs of children (when recognizable in the image) must have a written and signed consent by a parent or legal guardian of the child or children attached to the submission.
  15. Model/Portrait Release: Photographs of adults (when recognizable in the image) must have a written and signed consent form attached to the submission.
  16. Entry materials will not be returned.
  17. Entries that fail to comply with the rules will be disqualified.
  18. EBRPD reserves the right to change the Contest Rules as necessary.
