Master Gardener Speaking Series - FREE!


Attendees meet at the demonstration garden, questions can be sent to the Alameda County Master Gardener Program Help Desk via email at or phone (510) 670-5645, dogs are welcome and have attended. Handouts and gardening information are provided (and sometimes we have produce from our home gardens). Master Gardeners are also at the garden to answer questions on the first Saturday and third Tuesday of every month between 9:00 and noon.

Gardeners of all ages and skills are encouraged to stop by Quarry Lakes for this talk to hear what the Alameda County Master Gardeners have to say about some of their favorite garden tools are and how to take care of them.

Habitat Gardening

Habitat Gardening refers to the process of converting traditional landscape plans in privately owned yards or public spaces to those that attract and support native birds, bees, butterflies, and other wildlife. Habitat gardening greatly benefits wildlife by providing food, shelter, water and nesting places and is typically characterized by a more natural, less formal feel, with more variety in plant choices and naturalistic placement and pruning of plants. Join the Alameda County Master Gardeners on June 2nd to learn more about Habitat Gardening.
