Fire Weather - Related Park and Trail Restrictions

SMOKING IS NOT ALLOWED in wildland areas.
Obey fire hazard warning signs in all areas.


Very High Fire Danger precautions are in effect for the Regional Parks listed below for Thursday, May 23, 2013.
Fire Level Very High
Precautions include:
--No smoking outside of enclosed vehicles, designated day-use picnic areas, campgrounds or developed recreational areas.
--No campfires outside of designated day-use picnic areas, campgrounds or developed recreational areas. Barbeques permitted only in designated day-use picnic areas, campgrounds or developed recreational areas. Gas-fueled stoves are permitted in all areas.

Storm-Related Information

A general advisory will be issued after 0.2" or more of rain to alert the public of potential bay water contamination due to urban runoff. At such times, the East Bay Regional Park District advises beach users to avoid contact with bay waters for a period of three days or 72 hours after rainfall ends.

Anthony Chabot Regional Park

As of Friday, February 2, 2103 and until further notice, a connector trail between Brandon and Grass Valley trails located in Anthony Cabot Regional Park will be closed to both hikers and equestrians. [Posted: 02/02/2013]

Contra Costa Canal Trail

From February 5 through February 8, 2013 the Contra Costa Canal Trail will be undergoing repairs. Delays may occur due to the construction. [Posted: 02/04/2013]

Contra Loma Regional Park

[Update: 01/11/2013] The Contra Costa Water District (CCWD) has completed the installation of the site water meter in the spill way at Contra Loma. The reservoir will begin refilling on January 14, 2013. Questions or concerns about the project can be directed to Gina Oltman at (925) 688-8010 or goltman@ccwater.com.

Coyote Hills Regional Park

Crown Memorial State Beach

From March 18 through 22, and April 2 through 5, portions of the public beach at Crown Memorial State Beach in Alameda will be closed from Park Street northeast to the bathhouse. The closure will accommodate the annual sand-moving project in which work crews will move accumulated sand and spread it along the beach. For everyone’s safety, it is important that the public stay off the beach while scrapers and bulldozers are working. The beach at Crab Cove will not be affected and will remain open.  [Posted: 03-15-2013]

 Delta de Anza Regional Trail 

From April 16 through August 14, users of the Delta de Anza Regional Trail may experience delays where the trail crosses O'Hara Avenue in Oakley. The delays are due to the City of Oakley's street widening project in that area. The trail will remain open for most of the project, but may be closed at times for safety reasons.

Del Valle Regional Park

Iron Horse Regional Trail

The Iron Horse Trail is closed for seal coating between Dougherty Road and Dublin Blvd. in Dublin.

Las Trampas Regional Wilderness

The Bollinger Creek Loop Trail is closed south of the equestrian parking area at the end of Bollinger Canyon Road. This closure will last indefinitely.

The Chamise, Trapline, and Mahogany trails, and the narrow section of Las Trampas Ridge Trail between Chamise and Trapline trails, will be closed for repairs Mondays through Thursdays until further notice.  Those trails should be open for everyone’s enjoyment during the weekends.

Marsh Creek Regional Trail

Martin Luther King Jr.Regional Shoreline Park

Martinez Regional Shoreline

Miller/Knox Regional Shoreline

The Dornan Drive Tunnel to Miller/Knox Regional Shoreline park is now completely closed to traffic. City engineers found significant defects in the concrete shell lining the roof and walls of the tunnel.  The Dornan Drive Tunnel is expected to be closed until the end of April.  See the Dornan Drive Tunnel Press Release for the complete story.  [Posted 02/12/2013]

Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline

 No closures at this time.

 Point Pinole Regional Shoreline

The trail connecting the West County Detention Center with Point Pinole will be subject to occasional or temporary closures beginning Monday, March 11, until early July. The closure is due to a native plant restoration project on the property between the jail and the park. It will be re-opened as soon as the project is completed. [Posted 03/07/2013] 

Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area

The accessible fishing pier at Quarry Lakes in Fremont is closed from December 4, 2012, until further notice due to construction projects by the Alameda County Water District. Work is expected to continue through 2013. For information about the project, visit www.acwd.org or call (510) 668-4410. We regret the inconvenience.

Redwood Regional Park

The Graham Trail is blocked by a downed tree between the Trudeau Center staging area on Skyline Boulevard and Redwood's boundary with Roberts Regional Recreation Area.

The Golden Spike and Toyon trails are are reopened to equestrians.

East Ridge Trail Wildfire Hazard Reduction Project: The East Bay Regional Park District Fire Department will continue the East Ridge Trail Wildfire Hazard Reduction Project in Redwood Regional Park over the next several months, using prescribed burning. Work is scheduled for weekdays only. Phillips Loop and Eucalyptus Trail may be closed to the public on burn days during working hours. The fire mitigation project is funded by Measure CC. The Fuels Management recorded information line is (510) 690-6612.

Roberts Regional Recreation Area

Sunol Regional Wilderness

From May 2013 to December 2013, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) will be replacing the bridge at the end of Geary Road in Sunol Regional Wilderness.  There will be NO access through the construction site Monday through Friday.  Please use Canyon View Trail to access Little Yosemite and Backpack Camp. Calaveras Dam Replacement Project - Construction Advisory Adobe Acrobat 

Park use during Calaveras Reservoir improvements: Beginning September 2011 and continuing for up to four years, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission will be improving its facilities at Calaveras Reservoir.Sunol Regional Wilderness is expected to remain open for day use during this time. Sunol Backpack Camp will also remain open. As of September 1 there will be no overnight camping at Sunol's Family Camp School Camp, or High Valley Group Camp. All other campsites and the reservable picnic sites will remain open at this time.

The Lower Maguire Peaks Trail is open to foot traffic only.Equestrians can access the Maguire Peaks Loop via both the Maguire Peaks Trail and the Upper Maguire Peaks Trail, both accessible from Welch Creek Road.

Tilden Regional Park

The Selby Trail is closed at the connector trail to the Merry-Go-Round until further notice. 

South Park Drive is closed to automobile traffic from November 1 to April 1 to protect migrating and breeding newts. Note that bicycles are allowed, although bicyclists are asked to proceed slowly and avoid newts crossing the road. Also note that dogs may be off-leash on South Park Drive during the November 1-April 1 closure, but they must be under voice control and owners must carry a leash.

Wildcat Marsh Trail
