Antioch/Oakley Regional Shoreline

No closures at this time.

Alameda Creek Regional Trail 

Approximately 5 parking spaces are currently barricaded off at Isherwood Staging Area due to a hazardous tree removal project. The parking spaces will be made available when project is completed.

Alamo Canal Trail 

No closures at this time.

Anthony Chabot Regional Park

Columbine Trail is closed between Goldenrod Trail and Bass Cove Trail.

As of March 4, 2016 the Columbine and Cascade trails are open, but may be impacted due to heavy rains. Be prepared to turn around and or use alternative trails on your hikes.

Big Break Regional Shoreline

No closures at this time.

Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve 

No closures at this time.

Briones to Mt. Diablo Regional Trail

As of March 10, 2016, a short section of the Pine Tree Trail adjacent to the Briones Park Service Yard is closed until further notice, due to storm damage.  The trail will reopen after sufficient repairs can be made.

Briones Regional Park

As of April 11, 2016, A short section of the Abrigo Valley Trail in Briones, approximately one half mile from the Bear Creek Staging Area, is closed until further notice due to storm damage. The trail will reopen after sufficient repairs can be made.

Carquinez Strait Regional Shoreline

No closures at this time.

Castle Rock Regional Recreation Area

Annual Closure Notice:

Starting February 1st – July 31st the “Castle Rock” area of Mount Diablo State Park will be closed to all visitors.  This area is accessed mostly by Stage Road Trail which is in Diablo Foothills Park and Castle Rock Recreation area of EBRPD.   Stage Road Trail will NOT be affected by this closure, but all areas east of the trail leading up to the rock formation areas will be off limits.  This closure is to help protect the American peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus anatum). This protected species is territorial and highly sensitive to disturbance during nesting season. The rocks – located in Pine Canyon – are closed to all access during these same months each year. 

Although the peregrine is no longer endangered, it is still a fully protected species in California, and disturbance of nesting peregrines is punishable by fines and even arrest.
Please abide by the posted regulations, stay out of the restricted areas and don’t disturb the nesting birds. Public cooperation will be key to the success of the program.

Claremont Canyon Regional Preserve

Contra Costa Canal Trail

No closures at this time.

Contra Loma Regional Park

Seasonal Closure (until further notice) The connector between Willow Trail and Crandall Creek to Alameda Creek Trail is closed. We asked that all vehicle drivers and bicyclists stay alert for wildlife while driving on the roads. Give them the time they need to cross the roadway.

Coyote Hills Regional Park

No closures at this time.

Crockett Hills Regional Park

As of February 12, 2016, the north and south portion of Kestrel Loop is closed to the public until further notice, to protect sensitive species during the nesting season.

Crown Memorial State Beach

There is no entry into the Elsie Roemer Bird Sanctuary to facilitate ongoing restoration work, until further notce.

Cull Canyon Regional Recreation Area

No closures at this time.

Delta de Anza Regional Trail

As of January 22, 2016, the Delta de Anza Regional Trail is closed until further notice in Pittsburg, at Love Ridge Road to the west end of the school property at the bridge. The closure is due to construction in the area.

Del Valle Regional Park

Lake Del Valle contains toxic algae and is closed to swimming. Avoid any contact with the water and keep dogs away from the lake. The rest of the park will remain open. Download: Current Water Notice Flyer Acrobat PDF

Diablo Foothills Regional Park 

Annual Closure Notice:

Garin/Dry Creek Regional Park

As of January 11, 2016, and until further notice, Dry Creek trial is closed to equestrians, due to heavy rains and the need to slow down the erosion of the single track trail. 

As of August 5, 2015 and until further notice, the southernmost bridge on the Dry Creek Trail, near the Meyers Ranch trail, is closed to public use due to growing safety concerns. There is a crossing to the east side of the bridge that is still available to cross the creek.

Hayward Regional Shoreline

No closures at this time.

Huckleberry Botanic Regional Preserve

No closures at this time.

Iron Horse Regional Trail

No closures at this time.

Kennedy Grove Regional Recreation Area

No closures at this time. 

Lafayette-Moraga Regional Trail

As of March 1, 2016 and until further notice, a one mile section of the Old Moraga Ranch Trail is closed due to a landslide. The closure is located between Camino Pablo in Moraga and the East Bay Mud Watershed Area.

As of January 21, 2016, and until further notice, a portion of the Lafayette Moraga Trail is closed due to a mudslide.  The closure is between 1700 School St. and Val Vista staging area in Moraga.

Lake Chabot Regional Park

Although swimming and water contact is not permitted at Lake Chabot, due to the presence of Blue-green algae in the lake it is recommended that visitors avoid all skin contact with lake water; supervise your children and pets, especially dogs, at all times to keep them away from the water; and if your skin touches the water, rinse with tap water. Las Trampas Regional Wilderness

The Bollinger Creek Loop Trail is closed south of the equestrian parking area at the end of Bollinger Canyon Road. This closure will last indefinitely.

Marsh Creek Regional Trail

Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline Park

The boat launch at the south Doolittle Dr. parking area in Martin Luther King Regional Shoreline is closed until it is replaced and made safe for public use. The left side (north side) will be replaced with an aluminum dock and the right side (south side) will be closed until the pilings are replaced.  

Martinez Regional Shoreline

No closures at this time.

Miller/Knox Regional Shoreline

Beginning mid-August 2015 until early 2016, many areas of the park will be either closed or access will be limited by the "Miller Knox Park Renovation Project" Acrobat PDF. The south parking lot will be closed on weekdays, for the duration of the project.  Water service will be disrupted and drinking fountains may be shut off.  For construction project questions, please contact Ren Bates, Project Manager at RBates@ebparks.org. Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline

Trucks will be delivering soil to Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline weekdays beginning March 30, 2015. The project, which is expected to continue through 2017, is part of the Park District’s ongoing efforts to build up the topography of the park to meet the standards of the District’s Oyster Bay Land Use Plan adopted in 2013. Please observe signs about areas that might be closed to the public during this process. Thank you!

Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park

Point Isabel Regional Shoreline

Point Pinole Regional Shoreline

Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area

As of January 26, 2016, and until further notice, the Wood Duck Trail is closed due to flooding. 

The swim area will be closed until further notice, due to a bloom of toxic blue-green algae.

Redwood Regional Park

No closures at this time.

Roberts Regional Recreation Area

No closures at this time.

Shadow Cliffs Recreation Area

The water level is still below normal, so launch at your own risk. If your vessel is light enough to be carried safely, launching from the shoreline is permitted. The boat rentals and food concession will be opening soon. Please contact the Park for more information. Shadow Cliffs water standards are safe for contact and the swim areas are open to the public. However, because of fluctuating conditions and the public’s safety, the swim area may be closed as needed.

Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve

No closures at this time.

Skyline National Trail

No closures at this time.

Sunol Regional Wilderness

Adjacent to the park, the Calaveras Dam Replacement Project construction will continue until the end of 2018 for the replacement dam. The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission will be building the new dam at Calaveras Reservoir.Sunol Regional Wilderness is expected to remain open for day use during this time. Sunol Backpack Camp will also remain open. There is currently no overnight camping at Sunol's Family Camp School Camp, or High Valley Group Camp. All other campsites and the reservable picnic sites will remain open at this time.

Fish Passage Facilities within the Alameda Creek Watershed: This project is a sub-project of the Calaveras Dam Replacement Project. The project will entail improvements of the facilities, and construction of a fish ladder to facilitate fish passage around the existing Alameda Creek Diversion Dam. Construction begins March 2016 and completion is expected in 2018. East Bay Regional Park District patrons should anticipate seeing increased construction traffic from the Geary Road entrance of the Sunol Regional Wilderness Park and along Camp Ohlone Road during construction.


The Lower Maguire Peaks Trail is closed. Equestrians can access the Maguire Peaks Loop via both the Maguire Peaks Trail and the Upper Maguire Peaks Trail, both accessible from Welch Creek Road.

Sycamore Valley Open Space Preserve

No closures at this time.

Tassajara Creek / Ridge Trail

Approximately a 2/3 miles segment of trail between Charbray Street and the Tassajara Ridge has been closed to protect natural resources.

Temescal Regional Recreation Area

The lower West Shore Trail is open. The upper Oak Bay Trail remains closed until further notice due to storm damage.

As of Tuesday, December 1, 2015 the un-reservable picnic site adjacent the wooden fishing dock on the east shore trail will be closed for construction until further notice. Pedestrians and bikers will continue to have access to the east shore trail during this time.

Tilden Nature Area

No closures at this time.

Tilden Regional Park

The Selby Trail is closed at the connector trail to the Merry-Go-Round until further notice.

Vasco Caves Regional Preserve

No closures at this time.

Wildcat Canyon Regional Park

The Rifle Range Road Trail is closed due to a major landslide. Alternate entry points into the park are through the Alvarado Staging Area off Park Ave. in Richmond, from Bonita Road, Monte Cresta Ave., or Clark Road in El Sobrante, through Tilden Nature Area, or via the Nimitz Way from Inspiration Point on Wildcat Canyon Road in Tilden Regional Park.

Wildcat Marsh Trail
